By the time they had trudged up the field, Rapidly was completely covered in sand. At their station was a towel—the team was waiting in the stadium.
Though other athletes were frantically drying off, Rapidly lazily slung the towel around themself. Sure, they were happy to medal, but silver was no longer a cause for celebration.
Marble League 2024 has come to an end. Two teams with no medals until the final event discuss their fortunes amongst themselves as the three final podium teams come to terms with standing atop the highest podium in marble sports.
Glidavik’s limited daylight had run out by the time all the decorations were put up, but it was just as well. As Bumble rounded the corner, Foggy connected the plugs, causing all the lights to turn on at once and a gasp of delight from the captain.
“Thank you so much for your help,” smiled Bumble as Foggy descended.
“They’ve done it! They’ve beaten the record!”
On the last run of the last heat, those words were spoken. Momomo and Mo had bettered the record in the dying moments of Climbing, leaving no questions about where the duo would place in the event…
