By the time they had trudged up the field, Rapidly was completely covered in sand. At their station was a towel—the team was waiting in the stadium.
Though other athletes were frantically drying off, Rapidly lazily slung the towel around themself. Sure, they were happy to medal, but silver was no longer a cause for celebration.
Marble League 2024 has come to an end. Two teams with no medals until the final event discuss their fortunes amongst themselves as the three final podium teams come to terms with standing atop the highest podium in marble sports.
A silver medal finish would be worthy of celebration to many. It wasn’t gold by any means, but to have beaten fourteen other teams and given the chance to stand on the podium was usually just enough to drown out the woes of what could have been.
